Hey, it's been a minute.
1.6.0 is mostly about two things: my own history getting stuck on one Mac, and people needing a clean way to use Contextify at work.
Contextify Cloud
A problem I kept running into was that my history did not move between machines. The fix itself lands in git, but the conversation that led to it, the dead ends and the why, stays stranded wherever it happened. I'd sit down at home knowing I had already figured something out at work, with no way to reach it.
So, I built a cloud service. First I built a hosted version, and then after I had my hands on a Mac mini M4, I built the locally hosted version. This way everyone gets to choose where their history lives: a server I run for you, or one you run yourself. And I picked a friendly software license for the cloud code.
Then I banged on it and shook out bugs for a few months. So, it is pretty good, you really must check it out.
Free for personal use, licensed for work
First, Contextify stays free for personal use. If you're making money using Contextify, you should get a commercial license.
One of the first emails I got about Contextify came from someone who wanted to use it at work and needed a license to show for it. I didn't have an answer back then, now I do.
On the cloud side, I wanted it to be really easy for people to see the value of Contextify Cloud so there's a free personal version with some limitations. This stuff is very powerful, if you want to go unlimited there's a fairly cheap plan, you can go that route.
All the personal and commercial options live at contextify.sh/pricing.
